Micro traxion vs grigri Before that I was using a mini-trax and an ascension, but it took more time to take off those two and slap on a grigri to lower than it did to climb the route (short routes in that area). I’m thinking about setting up a Petzl Rescucender as my main device with a backup. It feeds slack with ease, securely catches lead falls, and securely auto-blocks when belaying a follower from above on multi-pitch routes. Aug 4, 2020 · You can combine this with various devices clipped to your harness to capture your upward progress, such as a Grigri, a plaquette style belay device in guide mode, a progress capture pulley such as a Petzl Micro Traxion (photo below), or even another Tibloc rigged as a progress capture. My preferred set up is to use a quickdraw (with locking biners) off my belay loop to a micro traxion. Pretty standard setup. It worked OK but very soon (within a dozen pitches) I had severely damaged my rope. at/CETZ3 👉 Learn and The alternatives to a grigri are a bit cheaper (although not much, compare 80 micro traction to the 100 grigri) The only downside is you need to pull slack through the grigri as you climb. I've already got a GriGri 2, wondering if I could use this in the mean time and purchase the Ascension at a later date?
